WRONG... Well, Not entirely.
For the Classic Dungeons and Dragons Style Rogue, There are a few paths to fallow.
You have The Trickster, Who likes to play with Shiny things, Such as Traps or new Items.
You have The Assassin, Who focuses on Stealth Combat.
And You have the Jack-of-All-Trades, Due to the fact the Rogue gets most the skills as Class Skills, A Rogue with a High INT off the bat gets a load of skill points. Why not make him/her a skills master?
As a General Rule, Rogues are Squishy, Meaning In Your Face Combat is not a good idea less you have a card, Or potion, up your sleeve. That is their major draw backs.
But As a Pro, These Critters get a load of skills, As mentioned above, And get Sneak Attack.
Sneak Attack adds a few extra dice to you Damage pool, If you can catch someone flat footed, Such as sneaking up on them, Or attacking someone that is already in combat with say... A tank? Or even a Good Trip, Then Sneak attack. Good for dealing fast damage.
Team a High Bluff and Sleight of Hand score, With a Hidden Dagger, You have a Dead Wizard, or Politician, Or who ever you really want dead ^^
As a key part of a Party, The Rogue also gains the abilities, Use Rope, Climb, And Escape Artist. So on the off chance you find yourself in a James Bond-ish style capture, They are your best friend.
Over all, The Rogue is a great addition to any party, And can be a little harder to play, But once you get it down, It comes as easy to someone as breathing. Just get in the Mindset ^_~
The Rogue gets a 4/5 from Vic.
