Now, Here is a game that has, for one reason or another, Captivated players for many-a-years. Weather its due to the sheer size of the weapons, As in... They are really fracking big!, Or is it the details they put into every creature? Who knows!... I do!
I find myself in Awe after every game. Each one that comes out is a stand alone, But, Its all built off of the last game. So its like a series, If it had a story line ^_~
Now, Monster Hunter, For the Play Station (psx) Happened a long time ago that it all seems like a dream, or a distant memory for most of us. But without it, What would we be missing? It was the first of its kind to use the right analog stick to control your weapon. Though it was limited, Who does not like to be able to push a stick forward and come down with an "executioner" style Sword Chop? Or pull back and make a quick stab with a Lance?
Also, Though there where only a few Boss Monsters, It makes a clear difference in Wyvern and Dragon. I always find that annoying in games. In that, You have small Hunts, Where it has you kill Kebli (Deer like creature), All the way to grand scales of hunting things like the Rathalos. Due to the changing in quests, Even in the middle of one, It always proved a challenge. Say you where send out to gather some Herbs, Turn the corner, And there is a Rathian munching on its dinner.Though its graphics did nearly max the psx's capability, It always came off as this "I want to look real, But semi-carton-ish" type, Its not bad, But I think they could have gone a different way. Over all, Monster Hunter is Always fun, Never Dull.
I have to give Monster Hunter for the PSX a 4/5
Many Moons after the release of Monster Hunter, We start hearing rumors of a second game. As you can guess, Monster Hunter fans where ecstatic, Hell, I nearly pissed myself when Capcom gave the official "Yes, We are Making it"
This Second game did not come as we had expected though, Monster Hunter 2 did not change much, Nor did it really add much to what we all know and love. Within the first 4 hours, You can tell that it is the same game, With very little added. One or two weapons here and there, And nearly no new armor. Come to find out, Thats how most the games where going to be. Though this has to be have been most disappointing of them all. With the addition of a few Elder Dragons, and the Monkey's, Came the addition of one of Most Hunter's Favorite Dragon, And most of those same Hunter's bane, The Kushala Daora. Though it seems near imposable when you first encounter it, We all learn to love the thrill it gives us when we are fighting it, And the feeling we get after we kill it. You would have to actually do this feat to understand it
I love the game, But after such a wait, We expected a little more from capcom. Good game, But if you have the first one, No need to get it, Less you are collecting them ^_~
Over all, I give Monster Hunter 2 a 3/5.
After Monster Hunter had fallen under the grid, And was only spoken of in the deep, dark regions of Fanatics Basements, We caught wind from Japan, That they are working on a "Monster Hunter G". G? where did the G come from? What about 3?
For the first few months, We only heard it was going to be in Japan, And not imported.
They win again I guess, right?
Wrong, Nearly 4 months after "G" came out in Japan, We heard that they WHERE importing it, And it was nearly done! To be released a month later.
Cleaver of Capcop, To get so many Blogs and Websites talking about how we want it, Its adds. Thats what that is.
In Late May of 2006, Americans got their first copy of Monster Hunter Freedom for the PSP. With this addition, we saw many new Weapons, More Armor, A new Map, A Wireless AHOD Multi-Player System, And a Handful of new Monsters for our Slaying Pleasure.
With this release, We get to explore the new Kokoto Farm, Where you can earn points and be able to buy a Farm, Mining Stations, Fishing, Bug Gathering, And nearly any other Non-Monster resources you can gather, And best part it, It refilled after every mission, As long as you take care of it.
Also, The Iconic Creatures are Back, Such as the Rathalos, And Rathian, But now there is the Azure and Pink counter parts. Same abilities, But they are Far stronger, And the AI has been improved. So Hunters, Be weary!
We also gain a Ranking System. Where the more points, Missions, and items you earn, You can gain Ranks. Once you reach the Top Rank "G" you are the Top Dawg. Everyone bows to you, And you are forever Known as the Hunter of Kokoto
This Release gets my Vote of a 4/5
A year later, August 29 2007, We got our Grubby hands on Monster Hunter Freedom 2. Most Notably from this release was the ability to transfer your MHF Character from a saved game to this new game. Lossing most of the high level items, But turning them to Z, It still is an edge that no one should pass up.
You are sent to a new village, The Snow Covered Land of Pokke Village. Where the Days are Cold, The People speak non-sense, And the Elder is... Still really fracking small. But none the less, The new Monsters are sure to give you run for your Z.
The Most spoke about addition to the Monster Ranks its the Infamous Tigrex . For the first time, It will take more then just good weapons and skill to take on this Beast. You will need Luck, And lots of it. As living breathing proof, I had the Akantor Armor and weapons. The biggest, badist beast in the land, And I still could barely take a hit from the Tigrex.
Over all, This is a good addition to any collection. PSP lovers rejoice.
Monster Hunter Freedom 2 Gets a 5/5
Juse 23rd of 2009, The USA gets its taste of the Best Installment of the Saga yet.
Monster Hunter Freedom Unite.
Like the last game, You get the feature to port over characters from its predecessors, To get that little Edge. Though in this one, That Edge does not Break that game, Like in the last one.
Also, It is placed back in the Pokke Village, With another Elder. We still have the Old Lady, But now there is a Fyline Elder! Whats this about?
Well, When you reach 'G' Rank, Not only do you get a pretty blue Guild Card, But you also are able to do missions that will have you pulling out your hair, And screaming that you wish it was multi player!
Hunting New Monsters such as the Nargacuga and the Hypnocatrice. Both not only bring speed to the game, But a Large Array of Powerful attacks. Hunters have to be ontop of their game to take these Titans down.
Over all This game gets a 5/5.
Though We do not expect Monster Hunter to end any time soon, We do expect to be sedated for a little.
Though it has not spanned as many years as many games to date, This is a good game to start Collecting, For who knows, We might just be playing Monster Hunter G VI in 20 years ^_~
Over all The Monster Hunter Saga gets a Big Fat 4/5 From Vic.
And one of the best Saga's I have ever played.
Have Fun Hunting ^_~
